Richard F. (Rick) Smith is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Equifax Inc., the company that empowers businesses and consumers with information they can trust, allowing them to make critical decisions with greater confidence. 

Headquartered in Atlanta, Equifax is a $1.94 billion company (NYSE: EFX) that operates throughout the U.S. and 14 countries in North America, Latin America and Europe. It is one of the largest sources of consumer and commercial data in the world, using differentiated data, advanced analytics and enabling technologies to create customized insights that enrich both the performance of businesses as well as the lives of consumers. 

Rick joined Equifax in September 2005 after more than two decades with General Electric Co. With his direction, the company has pursued a successful strategy focused on driving growth through new product innovation, emerging market opportunities (domestic and overseas), differentiated data and deepening customer relationships.

Prior to joining Equifax, Rick held several CEO, president and COO positions with GE, where he was appointed a Corporate Officer in 1999. Most recently, Rick was COO of GE Insurance Solutions, where he led all GE Insurance operating business units, including property and casualty reinsurance, commercial lines insurance and life and health reinsurance. These business units totaled approximately $10 billion in revenues and over $50 billion in assets. His career at GE also included leadership roles in leasing, asset management, distribution and engineering thermoplastics. 

Rick earned a BS degree in 1981 from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Joan, and their three daughters. He is chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and is on the board of directors for the Commerce Club, the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, and the Atlanta Committee for Progress. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Lovett School in Atlanta.
